Nets StandardsHave you seen the
newly proposed NETS Standards (National Educational Technology Standards) offered by
ISTE? They look pretty good at first glance. There is a distinct difference from the original NETS Standards that were presented almost nine years ago. The evolution from skill based to 21st Century based learning is evident. There appears to have been a conscious effort to move from small picture skills to big picture skills for students nationally.
1. Creativity and Innovation (new)
2. Communication and Collaboration
3. Research and Information Retrieval
4. Critical Thinking, Problem-Solving and Decision-Making
5. Digital Citizenship
6. Technology Operations and Concepts
If you haven't seen the standards you owe it to yourself and your students to take a closer look. ISTE is soliciting feedback from users like you on the proposed standards. Go to
www.iste.org/nets-survey and weigh in!
